AI Mode runs on Gemini 2.0 and provides follow-up questions, source panels, and real-time synthesis. Classic 10 blue links do not appear; source cards and expandable sections take their place.
How it works
When the user enters AI Mode, the query goes through Gemini. The model creates parallel sub-queries (query fan-out) and pulls a wide source pool. The answer is synthesized from multiple sources with follow-up suggestions appended. Citations list as cards in the right panel. AI Mode draws on location and user behavior history.
Where you see it in Scope Trends
The Scope AI Search > Google AI Mode tab reports citation and brand mention rate on your tracked queries.
Frequently asked questions
Does AI Mode fully replace classic SERP?
No. Classic SERP stays default; AI Mode is a user option. AI Overview appears within classic SERP.
Does AI Mode need separate optimization?
